Don't you love fall? The changing colors, the cool weather, pumpkin EVERYTHING... And all nice rich colors in clothing. I think fall is really my favorite season to do outdoor portraits here in Dallas. It's not a million degrees outside and the clothes are definitely cuter. Since I have a bunch of fall sessions and mini sessions coming up I thought it would be fun to put together a casual fall family photo shoot mood board! I know it can be intimidating to dress for a family photo shoot so I thought I would make it a bit easier.
Everything in the mood board is from the Gap (even easier, one stop shopping!). When you're dressing multiple people it's USUALLY easiest to shop from the same store because they generally have a lot of the same color schemes running through all the collections. You can see that I've kept everyone in the same color families but avoided using the same colors on the same items. This way no one is looking matchy-matchy but everyone still looks pulled together. This little trick works well in photos because it creates a unity and balance so the eye isn't just drawn to one thing.
Once you have the basic outfits set up you can add fun stuff like hats, scarves, fingerless gloves, coffee cups...you get the idea. So what do you think? Is this something you'd wear? Any requests on a what to wear for a photo shoot?

This is great! I really dislike family sessions in which all the family members are wearing the exact same outfits rather than complementing each other.
