Shine On Saturdays with GapKids

I mentioned on Thursday that I would be going to the GapKids Shine On Saturdays event here in Dallas.  So Saturday morning we packed Margaux up in the car and drove to the Galleria for a little art activity!  When we got there they had a table with supplies and about 5 Gap employees ready to assist.  The Gap folks explained the project, gave us our supplies, set us down at a kid sized table, and let us get started.  This particular project was geometric art and the instructions were also available at each table in case you needed a refresher which was nice.

We took our masking tape and put it on the canvas and then let Margaux get started.  Unfortunately I forgot to bring a smock so we couldn't let her go all buck wild on the paint but some inevitably ended up in her mouth and up her nose as well as on her shirt.  Luckily it was washable paint and the Gap people were quick with the wet wipes and paper towels.  Seriously, they were really helpful and so happy to be there!  I know they work there but they really genuinely looked like they were having a good time.

The project turned out surprisingly well and I can't wait to put it up on Margaux's art wall as her first painting, ha!  I forgot to take a nice picture but here's a picture of her masterpiece after we took the tape off...trust me it looks a lot better in person...

If you missed out on the event Saturday you can still make it to the last two events!  The next one (Journal Making!) in Dallas is on August 18 from 10-1 at  Stonebriar Mall in Frisco  and the last event (Animal Badges!) is on August 25 from 10-1 at NorthPark Center.  Unfortunately I can't make the next one but I will definitely be making an animal badge with Margaux on the 25th.  Fun!
