Recipe: Simple Smoothie

You know what I love for breakfast sometimes?  A smoothie.  You get a ton of fruit in your belly and all you have to do is sip through a straw.  I made this smoothie for breakfast earlier this week and Margaux and I (and my husband) all enjoyed it.  Now I know the fancy thing is to add spinach or kale or mushrooms or Lord knows what to your smoothie but I like mine simple and old school.

Here's what you need:

  • Blueberries
  • Strawberries
  • A Banana
  • Skim milk (or whatever percent you prefer)
  • Fruit yogurt (We used Yo Baby Blueberry)
  • Agave nectar (or honey or sugar or whatever sweetener you like)

Throw everything in your blender. Turn it on.  Blend until smooth.  We used frozen berries but you can use fresh fruit and just throw some ice in.  I usually add the sweetener at the end and you can even leave it out if you want.  I don't use it if the fruit is already sweet enough.

And there you go!  Perfect Summer breakfast!

  3. This sounds as delicious as it looks! I actually had a breakfast smoothie myself this morning haha. You know what you could try too? I used Strawberry Kefir, the probiotics are good for tummy health, and also 2 teaspoons of green foods powder for a daily fix of fruits and veggies!

  5. Another way to add some sweetness without adding too much sugar is apple sauce, I find it adds a great flavour!
