Thursday's Things: Margaux's Birthday Edition

Though it's not her birthday quite yet, I've already started collecting ideas for Margaux's first birthday in June. Yes, apparently I'm that mom.

I don't want it to be a big party but I do want it to be pretty and fun.  And mostly DIY.  I've been playing with a theme and right now the front runner is Rainbows and Unicorns.

First off, we need to decide what the birthday girl will wear...I was thinking this.

or maybe this?

Or maybe the onesie for the party and the tutu for pictures.

As far as decor, there are TONS of awesome ideas on Pinterest and these are my favorites.

Homemade rock candy in rainbow colors
Yarn balloons in rainbow colors
LOVE this cloud and tulle rainbow setup
Ginormous Balloons
As far as the cake and food goes, I like color coordinating snacks to make rainbows but there are only a few options for unicorns that I've seen...including this gorgeous cake.

And to round it out...

Unicorn horns
Rainbow drawing table
Make your own raindrop party favors
Paint your own favors
I'll share the other theme I've been playing around with next week.  If you were throwing a first birthday what theme would you pick?

This is gonna be an awesome party. I totally want to come and fingerpaint rainbows. I love all the cakes, and the unicorn horns are a cool idea.

Loving the rainbow theme you got going here...and if it were me, I'd go with the unicorn onesie AND the rainbow tutu, together...cause they're both amazing and you can't have too much awesome.

I LOVE these ideas!! As a mom to 2 (soon to be 3) little girls, we can never have too many rainbows and unicorns around!

Love that onesie. Every little girl should have a unicorn onesie!

Alexa's first birthday party is next week. It's just going to be an adult barbecue, nothing big, but I'm putting together a small music theme for her. She loves music.

I think the rainbow theme is fun and relatively easy to pull off! We did it for V. I WILL tell you that I wasn't able to do as much with decorations and sweets as I had hoped, but I guess such is life when you're doing it by yourself with no help. Grab some girlfriends! or make Jacob help you :)
