is pretty rainy. But apparently while we were there earlier this week they had weird monsoon type weather. Which is good because it gave us a taste of what life might be like if we were to move to the area. The whole point of the trip out there was to determine if we though it was a place we might like to live. Turns out it's not. Not that there's anything hugely wrong with Seattle, it just didn't feel right to us. And so the search continues.
We did have a good time while we were out there. We flew up Saturday afternoon and drove up to Vancouver on Sunday to meet up with Kamika who I'd never met. Turns out she's just as awesome in person as she is online! We had such a great time hiking and hanging out and eating donuts and taking in the beauty of North Vancouver. I wish we could have stayed longer but alas we had to head back to Seattle to explore the surroundings.
We spent Monday checking out Pike's Place Market, walking around and heading out to Mt. Ranier which was gorgeous! The sun peeked out a little bit and honestly we were surprised by how welcome it was! It was like a beacon of hope! OK, I'm being a little dramatic but there was definitely a notable difference in our moods. Plus I started thinking about wet dogs which is not something I enjoy dealing with on the rare occasions we get rain, and if it were most of the year I'm not sure I could handle it. Wet dog smell is not appealing to me!
Tuesday we did some more driving around, went to the beach where we watched a storm roll in complete with thunder and lightning and eventually hail. Yes, that's right, it hailed on us. We were driving when it started and we had to pull over. CRAZY. That night we met an old friend from when I was young and her husband. We hadn't seen each other in something like 12 years? We had so much fun eating and laughing like crazy. Seriously, we laughed so hard, it was so great! I'm so glad we were able to get together :)
We came home Wednesday and boy it was nice to be back. I was so tired from not being able to sleep well on the hard hotel bed! Needless to say I slept like a baby that night, all the way through, not even getting up to pee. It was glorious :) We had a good trip, and I'm very glad we went and were able to cross Seattle off our list. Now we're looking into possible Georgia or one of the Carolinas but we're not sure. It's hard to move from Dallas...one, a lot of our family is in the area and two, it's just so affordable to live here. We'll just have to see what happens.
Anyway, without further adieu, a few pictures from our trip!

| I know there are clouds covering it but that's Mt. Ranier in the background. The tip of it is peeking out of the top of the cloud...can you see it? |
OH! As far as food goes, we were able to find some places we really liked within walking distance of our hotel. Our favorite spot (we ate there twice during the trip) was Citizen Coffee in the Queen Anne district. It's not just a coffee shop but a restaurant as well! We didn't try the crepes but the sandwiches and breakfast were yummy. The other place we really liked was Serious Pie. There are two locations but we tried the one in the South Lake Union neighborhood. ZOMG. The pizza was so so so so good!!! I recommend the pizza with truffle cheese and chanterelle mushrooms. SO. GOOD. My last recommendation is Sweet Iron Waffles which is downtown. It's the closest I've tasted to real Belgian Waffles outside of Belgium :)
Anyway, that's my little vacation recap, I hope you didn't get too bored ;) This is my birthday weekend but I really don't have anything special planned. My birthday is on Monday (sad face) and I don't think we'll actually do anything. I'm feeling kind of blargh about my birthday this year. 28. Old. :P Anyway, hope you all have a lovely weekend full of good weather and food and friends.
Peace out!

10 little lovelies:
wow, these pictures are amazing!
If you decide to visit the Carolinas, I can definitely recommend some cool places to visit!
I visited Dallas a few years ago and found it to be similar to Charlotte (where I live) except with fewer trees and not as much humidity. :) Plus it's less expensive to live here than Dallas.
Love your Seattle pics!
Your pictures of the Canyon turned out great, and the silly one of us is hilarious! Insert sad face here though that Seattle wasn't the right fit for you :( Ill just have to stick bug and I in Ryans suitcase on his next Dallas trip
xoxo
I LOVE Mt Rainier! I want to move up there just so I can go there everyday. Did you happy to go to Blue Hole in Mt Rainier? It's a bug water area that is FREEZING, but you jump from a 70 foot cliff! It's so scary!
so pretty!
I visited Seattle for 3months, aug. to oct., it only rained a couple days. It was absolutely beautiful. I loved it so much I wanted to stay, if I hadn't been enguaged I would have. Ohio is not the worst but I would love to live just about anywhere else!
Hello from your newest follower! I just stumbled across your blog and am so glad I did. Washington is on my list of "potential places to live". My husband and I are drawn to the pacific northwest. It is so lovely and green there! I'll be 28 in April and I'm with you. 27 you can kinda fudge and group into the mid-twenties category. But there's no fooling people with 28... 28=late twenties... Farewell, youth. After you survive you'll have to give me any tips you have :)

I live VERY close to Mt. Rainer! So glad to see you've visited! I just stumbled upon your blog, and I'm glad I did!
Oh my, what an awesome trip! I'd like to visit Seattle sometime.
That is a crazy awesome picture of the Space Needle! I absolutely love that shot. Well done!
I just started reading your blog recently, so I might be a little behind on your news - sounds like you're searching the country for your new home? I think that's so cool. I've been doing the same thing (on the internet) and hope to be able to do so in person soon. I just think there are so many awesome places out there and one of them is sure to speak to me! (Right now I'm eyeing Austin, TX). ;)
